Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an open-world action role-playing game based on the Dragon Ball franchise created by Cyber Connect Two and published by BNE Entertainment. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in January 2020, for Nintendo Switch in September 2021, and for Google Stadia in October 2021. The game follows Goku and Z Fighters through events in the Dragon Ball Z anime series, including anime-only plots and scenes.
The game received a lot of reviews when it was first released, but by December 2021, it had sold over 4.5 million copies worldwide.
Kakarot is primarily an action role-playing game with combat components. Players can fight other players and engage in activities such as fishing, collecting Zorbs, eating, driving hover cars, training, and inserting characters into soul emblems. When the player interacts with the surrounding world as multiple playable characters, the plot of the game follows the development of the anime series. To advance the story, players can explore areas and complete side quests. The game is divided into four story arcs: Saiyan Saga, Namek Saga, Android Saga (where players get hover cars), and Busoga.
Bonus stories such as the re-story of the Battle of the Gods and the resurrection of Dragon Ball Super `Story [citation needed] are available for download. On June 11, 2021, the DLC original story set after the Dragon Ball Z: Trunks history event was released, showing that Future Trunks will confront Babidi to prevent the awakening of Main Buu (Dragon Ball). Working under the working title "Dragon Ball Game: Project Z", this game was first released in January 2019 via the trailer seen at the Dragon Ball Fighter World Tour Finals. Famous for its work on Aura’s Wrath and Naruto Ultimate Ninja series, Cyber Connect 2 is believed to be working on action RPGs for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. The final title, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and the early 2020 release period, were announced during Microsoft's 2019 E3 presentation, despite the original plans for the 2019 release.
